Sensex Ends 153 Points Lower

A benchmark index for Indian equities today closed 153 points lower, with energy, banking stocks coming under selling pressure.


Broader markets also ended flat.


The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,623.66 points, was ruling at 17,460.66 points (provisional), 153.82 points or 0.87 percent down from its previous close at 17,614.48 points.





At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty closed at 5,238.8 points, down 0.95 percent from its previous close at 5,289.05 points.


Broader markets indices ended flat, with the BSE midcap index ending 0.11 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index down 0.15 percent.
